Classic Chair – Nelson Swag Chair

Retro 1950s design that works with modern style.

Originally designed by George Nelson in 1958, the swag chair is ideal furniture for a home office and best paired with an open-legged desk to show off its elegantly sculpted base. Its unique shape and wide, flat armrests make it comfortable, too. Today it is still produced according to Nelson’s original design but using earth-friendly polypropylene and chrome tubing.

  1. For the record, Charles Pollock designed the swage legged chair and both Mr. Nelson and Herman Miller were aware of it. In fact, Mr. Pollock received a letter from Nelson receiving credit for this design.
