Winners: Gold Award Best Interior Design for Chalfont Dene, What House? Awards 2016

IDC are pleased to show you our latest project completed in May this year, CHALFONT DENE.

From the initial concepts put forward in 2012 to working up the interior features and details with the architects,  ensuring the client needs are met in the layouts of the individual areas and  ensuring all the different aspects are fully coordinated takes a considerable amount of time.  We specify everything from the floors, walls, paints, tiles,  lighting positions and fittings in all areas, right down every  furniture and fabric, many bespoke, which we finally procure.  We also curate a collection of original artworks that are located throughout the scheme.   The final stages of the buildings handover and the installation completes IDC’s remit, but to get to that stage is long and demanding.  A difficult birth this one, but when it finally happened all the hard work paid off.  We are very proud of the results and  Our client Audley Retirement Villages are delighted.

So its back to the drawing board with many projects forging ahead at this time

Calm descends

Chinking cups and the clatter of plates die down, papers folded and discarded, everyone journeying back back to their abode, staff having well earned rest after a busy day.  A the sun goes down a calm descends and Yao managed to get over to Mote House and take some photographs when it was quiet, or should I say in “lull” before the restaurant opens.  This building is 18th century built in the typical Georgian proportions, a wonderful space to work with

Before and After

what a transformation, Mote House at Bearsted.  A before and after shot.

Still awaiting some more images of the rest of the house, the Library I particularly like

finished at last !

Another project successfully completed by Inside Design Co, Tunbridge Wellls.  This project took a long time to come to fruition  but it’s finished at last.  Set in the Derbyshire Dales its a real treasure………

This  last week has been a real push, made much easier by such a friendly team helping us, always with a smile.   Hours leading up to  launch somewhat frantic, but it all came together in the end.

One very happy client thankfully

Here are  a few last minute  shots courtesy of Yao photography

More to follow when we visit again

Not long to go now

This is our next project nearing completion, a large victorian house with a central galleried staircase.  Its been slowly taking shape these past months, pool and spa wing almost completed, main house due  in next few weeks.  Hard to believe with all the scaffolding up, that it will all come together , but slowly sections are being revealed.  Unlike the last project panic stations right up to the last moment, this project, although only 8 days to carry out the installation, feels like it will be finished at handover.  Keeping our fingers crossed

Here are some before images, wont be long and I will post the completed project hopefully

Edward’s Parrots

Parrots, dont you love them.  There vibrant colours……….  In a recent project we wanted to use them, we had found an amazing box of prints, a collection by Edward Lear and just new they would figure in our designs.  Our brief was to give the restaurant a more up to date contemporary feel but maintaining the elegance of  its classical heritage.  We were delighted with the results, as were our clients.

Purple

I have been putting together some ideas for artwork for my next project. Incorporates a restaurant and bistro and a spa amongst other things.    Although I using using red in some areas, I want to add some purple mauve touches.  During this process I have really warmed to this colour, used sparingly it looks quite splendid.

RED

totally into red at the moment, putting together some new interior schemes for a new project and finding red so inspiring

kvadrat clouds, unique product for interior designs

What a unique concept.  One can purchase the tiles separately and form a design unique to your specific location.  Easily constructed by bending and joining the shapes with special “rubber bands”.  I am sure  you will agree the results are amazing.

Objects

Amazing what you can do with everyday objects, shuttlecocks would you believe?

No 1 perfume – Clive Christian Interior design

well that was in interesting time……….  I have just come away after champagne, delectable canapes, a tour around the world of Clive Christian and being sprayed in the worlds most expensive perfume…

The best bit though, was talking to a very witty and charming man who actually comes from Tunbridge Wells, and who like me has an insatiable appetite for design, think we shall be getting together to “cross pollinate” soon !

KARIM SADLI

These images are truly inspiring to me, the sumptous embroidery on the sleeves, an image I can draw upon when designing bespoke fabrics

Love the pleated affect of the fabric here, so architectural,  structural, feels like I could do some wonderfully large paper sculptures using these forms in paper

Sneak Peak

Take a sneak peak at the latest edition of Vogue living (Australia), its crammed full of inspirational images.

Relaxed living in summer, from the beach to the city!!  If only………..  Here we are amidst high winds and lashing rain, with the prospect of widespread frosts.  However there is something magical, about long winter walks and coming home to a glowing fire.

We especially like the article “in vogue” Trick of the Eye” look how perspective draws you to the sculpture at the end really expands your perception of space.  Great chair too, looks like a photo image of the Eifel Tower……………  love it

As for Kelly Wearstler, she is one colourful lady
